Rafaël Gorsen
In the exhibition space on the 1st floor at Art Gallery Pot we organise periodic exhibitions of the work of one artist. The studios at Pot Interieur are filled with beautiful works throughout the year, but this gives us the opportunity to show a larger repertoire to the customer. An important addition to the art experience at Art Gallery Pot. The space was supposed to open at the beginning of 2020, but due to Covid-19, this opening was moved to September 2020. On February 15, 2020, one of our permanent artists, who was affiliated with Art Gallery Pot from the start: Rafaël Gorsen died. In consultation with his wife, Mrs. Gorsen, the first exhibition was a tribute to Rafaël.
This is my intro text of the exhibition:
An artist's story is one that is written in (art) books, films, documentaries and museum exhibitions. You hear these stories, but you never think that you will ever get to know such a great artist yourself. That was Rafaël. A real great artist. I am very proud that I got to know him.
"The smell of oil paint, coffee and cigarettes." A phrase that I have repeated many times over the past few weeks as I tell my stories with Rafaël. His studio was a space filled with colour, drawings, canvases and paint pots. Every square centimeter was used. And a unique scent that I can only bring home there. I find myself wanting to tell these stories to people who are as interested and intrigued by this great artist as I am
In the past five years I have learned a lot from Rafaël, laughed a lot, had serious conversations and fantasized about the future of art. You can find these stories here. I am very happy that in this way I can contribute my page to the story of this impressive artist. Rafaël.
Unfortunately I can no longer show you the beautiful exhibition, but I can take you into the story of Rafaël Gorsen through this short documentary:
