Light
Long undervalued, the role of lighting in the interior. Light is not only functional, think of the reading corner, but is also important in creating atmosphere. And there is more, such as the positive effect that good lighting has on the art present in the room. Imagine: a modern interior with white walls, a light grey floor, a glass coffee table, a grey sofa and above that couch ... a painting of a brightly coloured cobra that is illuminated by two spots.
The painting itself is already a striking element in this interior, but thanks to the two spots it demands all your attention. Just an example of what lighting can mean for a work of art. In a variety of ways. Placing the lighting above the painting is illuminates is, given a calm and simplistic look. It feels natural to the viewer, of course. If you place the lighting under the artwork, a more dramatic and passionate effect will be created. And if you really want to play with lighting and atmosphere…Then use coloured lamps. Choose a colour that responds well to the artwork. For example, a purple spot focusing on a painting with lots of black and dark shades. What applies to paintings also applies to other works of art such as sculptures. How can you best highlight a sculpture? Is a single spot sufficient for the lighting to come from multiple angles? The spatial facet is an extra challenge here. One of my favourite ways of lighting images is the classic 'three-point-lighting'. Think of the classic Hollywood films from the 1940s, how beautifully the light falls on the characters in it. You can also create this effect in your interior. Use two spots, left and right from the artwork. Place a third spot that illuminates the artwork from behind. And there you have it, your image is as beautiful as Grace Kelly. zitmeubelen, kunstwerken.
Just as every element in the interior has been chosen and placed with care, so does the choice of lamps. The cupboard, the table, seating furniture, artwork. They all contribute to the atmosphere in your interior. And that is only finished with ... the lighting.
